The selection of restored prints
of the Lumière festival

Be among the finest restored films of the year
The international rendezvous of classic cinema, the Lumière festival, has confirmed its dates for this fall: from Saturday the 10th to Sunday the 18th of October 2020. The event’s 12th edition is once again dedicated to the history of film, where everyone comes together to reaffirm the vitality, undeniable presence and beauty of cinema.

Lumière Classics is the label of the festival series that endeavours to support - this year more than ever - the films selected. The label is awarded to films of the Lumière Classics section itself, and includes works classified as "Treasures and Curiosities", as well as titles of the "Epic Screenings" category.

Thus, during the festival, films from around the world, restored and put forward by archives, producers, rights holders, distributors, studios and film libraries can benefit from a special distinction.

Additionally, the Treasures and Curiosities programme reminds us of the importance of immersing ourselves in cinema that is often little-known, and yet essential. It highlights the consistent and active work of film libraries and archives from a myriad of countries, to restore and enhance the value of these films.

Registration closes on Monday, July 6th. Once selected, the films will be screened in the festival movie theatres of Lyon and its Metropolis. The final line-up will be communicated at the end of August.
